ST GEORGE IVYCHURCH
All proceeds to go towards the continued restoration and maintenance of our medieval parish church
The rebuilding of the tower window at St George’s, Ivychurch has made available some large pieces of carved medieval ragstone masonry.
The old window pieces date from the 15th century and are now available for sale. They would make ideal additions to a garden rockery or might possibly be carved to create other features such as bookends, although as they are ragstone they are difficult to carve into more intricate designs. Various sizes available.
This is a once and only opportunity to acquire a piece of local Ivychurch history. Individual pieces are presently valued from £20 for smaller pieces and from £50 for larger pieces, with those that are more intricately carved worth more. The stones are currently on view outside the church. Donations are invited for each piece of stone or you may offer a donation for several pieces of stone. All proceeds from the sale will go towards the continued maintenance and restoration of St George's. Your vital donation will help keep our wonderful historic church open and in good repair for future generations. Please contact Margaret on 01797 344283.
Please note that the larger pieces are extremely heavy and will require a minimum of two people to lift. Removal is the responsibility of the purchaser. A selection of the stones are pictured below.
